Off to Moscow (Not Idaho)

I am off to Russia with Candian men's under 20 National Rugby Team next week to compete in the World Trophy Tournament in Moscow.

This time next week ill be on a plane to Moscow! Russia that is, not Idaho.  Although I am sure the only real difference is that there is a Wal Mart in Moscow, Idaho.

The team will be facing stiff competition with Japan, Russia and Zimbabwe in our pool.  For us to be elligible for next years world cup, we must win the entire tournament.  We have a team of 26 players that will be headed over to Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island this weekend for our final preparations before departing next Thursday.  The team is made up of young men from all across Canada and includes 4 North Shore athletes.  3 of the 4 boys are graduates of Carson Graham and 1 is from Collingwood.  Both myself and Tim Murdy (head coach) are also Carson graduates and like all four boys; we are members of the Capilano RFC.

The team will be heading over to the mainland next wednesday for a big feed at the Tomahawk BBQ, and then over to Level 10 for one of our last workouts before the tournament.  Ummmm, now that I see this in writing, I should maybe consider switching the workout with dinner?  The portion sizes at the Tomahawk are rediculous and we only have one toilet in the mens bathroom.

Anywho, please stay tuned over the next couple of weeks.  I will be writing as much as I can in my free time and will keep everyone posted as to how we are doing.  Hopefully I can meet some nice gypsies to take pictures of me in front of the historical landmarks so I can share in the splendor of Moscow!

Yours in Strength,

Joe McCullum
